Thiruvananthapuram: Suman Tiwari, a PhD scholar from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, was declared the winner of the 12th Euraxess Science Slam India, a science-talk competition organized by the German cultural center Goethe-Zentrum.
The winner gets a round-trip ticket to Europe and an opportunity to network with research peers at one of Europe’s leading institutes.
Giggin T, assistant professor at Kerala Agricultural University, Shabana K M, PhD scholar at IIT Palakkad, and Sreshtha Ganguly, PhD scholar at IIT Kharagpur were the other finalists who competed for the title.
In the final round, the contestants captured the audience’s attention by offering insights into their respective fields of study in an engaging and accessible manner. The event also served as a platform for learning about European research opportunities, career development programmes, and the importance of effective science communication.
Following the competition, a networking dinner was held, where participants interacted with members of the Euraxess India team, Goethe-Zentrum, the German Consulate, the EU Delegation to India, representatives from various EU member states, academic and non-academic sectors, and the Science Slam jury.
